Travel insurance for cruise ship workers

My wife and I will be working on cruise ships intermittently over the next two years. We will spend between 4 and 6 months away each time with approximately 2 months at home in the UK in between, where we are normally resident.

Whilst on the ship we are covered by the company but not whilst travelling to and from. Additionally we would like to take some vacation prior to joining and after leaving the ship without coming home first.

We are struggling to find insurance that will cover this situation as most seem to require us to be resident in the UK for at least 6 months of the year. I have also been told that many travel insurance policies will not cover you whilst travelling to or from a work / business destination.

Can anyone point us in the right direction or would we be best to go to an insurance broker for advice?

Thanks in advance

David
