Is it normal to have period-type symptoms just after stopping having the depo, but not actually having a period iykwim? I've had mood swings and cramps the past day or so, which I normally get while I'm on but nothing from down there...
Not looking for medical advice, just wanna see if I'm normal lol.

oooo depo what a pa lava i had with that last year.
I had the injection last march because i was going on holiday and you know what it's like you time it and you know your time will happen on holiday.
so I prepare have the jab and have a period on holiday, so i defeated the object i wanted it for.
and then the next 9 months of weird periods not quite full ones but enough to need protection..
Waste of space, and not to mention what the chemicals do to your body.
You are normal hun, depo screws your system up, is there not another contraceptive you could use thats less harmful to yourselfLife is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
After 4 years on Depo, it took over a year before my periods returned to normal. Once they came back, I remembered why I went on the injection, and went back on it for a year. Only took 3 months to get into a semi-normal cycle. Both times, I had a lot of symptoms before any actual period.
I thoroughly hate what it does to my body, but is the only type of contraception I can useStay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
I think that any changes in your hormone levels (i.e. from coming off the depo) are going to affect your mood and other period-related stuff.. it's practically inevitable!0

i was on the depo for a year n didnt stop bleeding the whole time, i fell pregnant 4 months after my last injection and have now got the implant to which i am suffering 13 week periods! if your bleeding too much ask to be put on the pill to control them. they took me off it after 5 weeks because i was at risk of strokes! n im only 18!!0

I had depo once and throughout the entire time it was in my system, my skin was awful, my hair was greasy and I had splitting headaches. My system didn't have a clue what was going on so I stopped it.
However, it took about 2 months for my system to go back to "normal" afterwards.;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)0 -
This thread is interesting as I've been on depo for nearly five years. I had irregular periods for the first three years then it got less and less and now I just get occasional spotting. For me it's been great as I've tried various methods of contraception that didn't agree with me.
I've just had my injection and nurse told me I've been on it too long and need to come off it. She mentioned the arm implant which I really do not fancy at all. My other option is the progestogen only pill which is going to be a pain as you have to take it at the exact same time every day (with a 3 hour window.) I was enjoying being period free and don't know how the POP will affect me.
The nurse told me I can keep taking the POP until menopause. I'm 41 and if I don't have any periods how will I know when the menopause is? I'm confused. Is there a cut off age limit for this type of pill?0
