To cut a long story short i have got a postal order for €67 i took it to my bank (the halifax) and they want to charge me £10 for putting it into my account and say it will take up to 28 days. I then tried the post office who said they couldnt do anything with it but i should be able to cash it at a post office down south, this isnt exactly very handy.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

I had the same problems with cashing a Euro cheque in the Halifax a few years ago - it was because they are not a clearing bank. I think I ended up going to one of the "normal" banks like Northern/Ulster/BoI/can't remember the other one(s).0

You're going to get ripped off by any bank here. If you don't need the money urgently and there's no 'cash by' date, I'd hang on until you can get across the border.0
