if the item is lost, isn't the customs declaration lost too?
when i send things, the only record of the value is stuck onto the parcel!
Not with UPS - they will have copies of the AWB and also know what insurance has been paid for. If it is declared at a low value I'm sure they will not pay more than that even if the sender paid for more insurance.
I'm not sure that you can be sure that the driver has acquired or lost the parcel. I0 -

ups havent said the driver has took it but said lost in transportation althought online tracking shows it was on the vehicle in the morning and was meant for delivery last week but never arrived.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
You bought something, it didn’t arrive so tell paypal and they WILL give you your money back.
Anything else just seems to be adding unnecessary complication0 -

Well as the guy stated i agreed to the $500 value so i'm doing him out money if i claim the full amount back for non receipt.
Sorry but the Seller is totally at fault.
He is breaking US Federal Law by under-declaring the item he shipped to you
You paid for the item fair and square.
Paypal will refund you the total amount of the claim, the rest is the Sellers problem for being dishonest

I have had the other way round too BTW
Bought an item costing me $15 so exempt under the HMRC Customs Regs
BUT - it's value was $100 so the US Seller insured it for $150. Since the item was insured for $150 Customs charged me on that figure.
I did get the monies back since I could prove with the ebay receipt that it cost $150 -
funily enough since i posted on here, i also posted on another forum, and there are lots of powersellers on there that all said the same as you and that the sller should have declared the value truthfully. Even when requested by the buyers they do not reduce the value for this very reason. Although i agreed to it so i cant deny it now and leave the transaction open paypal to reverse the transaction.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0
