Its the house prices and the fact some people may not earn as much as you do, no reason to look down on them.

Car salesmen do not earn as much as you may think, trust me.

Good post. An HPC will help me move up the ladder, but I would never gloat at the misfortune of FTBs buying at the peak and find some posters attitudes to be disgusting.
    just for the record:

the number of posters here who gloat at the predicament of FTBer's is - thankfully - very small.

inevitably, though, there will bound to be some comment on the gullibility of some who were suckered into 125% deals - genuine astonishment that anyone could be gulled into thinking that this type of deal together with low interest rates made sense in the long term.

I reserve some sympathy for this group. chances are they are young and haven't seen the misery an HPC can bring.

but I also sympathise with people who have been out-priced for the past few years. these are victims as well.

No you are getting me confused with someone else i am the man who continually strives for evenhandedness on here. I do not gloat about anything, totally wrong there paul.

Actually, you're right there. I thought that post was from pickles. Sorry about that. Very easy to get you two mixed up. Ones a gloater, the others a baiter. ;)

Yes, I suggested to my mum (as a joke) that if things got really tough, we could always move back into their 5 bed house (conveniently in the catchment area for a school we like). Much to my surprise, she took it seriously, and was very keen on the idea - I think it would be a win-win situation - cheap living costs for us and free baby sitting; they get help round the house and to see their grandchildren.

Not doing it now; but you never know....

Im now wondering if she'll be able to afford a house when she gets her crash.

I didn't mean that and I think you know it.
What I mean is that someone who either chooses to live a different way or do something that you wouldn't do, like for example live with their parents when they are married and have kids....... isn't a reason to look down on them and think they are strange.

A 40 year old man living with his mother  maybe, depends if he collects star trek stuff.

I agree. There's something a bit tasteless about those people waiting for repossessions so they can grab a bargain whilst some poor soul is suffering.

It really annoys me when people are slated on these boards for "living with Mummy" like it's automatically a bad thing.

It seems to me a win / win situation. Your mother gets company, you get to spend time with your mother, children (if there are any) get to spend time with their grandparents, the grown-up children save money, the parents have a bit extra.

Provided everyone is respectful of each other, it seems to me ideal. And very odd to have a go at people for loving and living with family!

I don't live with my parents. But my brother does, and my sisters both live in their country house. Works very well.

Equity in a rising market is hard earned? How does that work then?
You will have noticed that house prices have risen and fell over time and I expect most people will have struggled through 15% interest some years ago to EARN their equity in their homes.

No. I just don't think people should be slated for loving their families and choosing to live with them.
