Car Insurance with 2 cars

I am just about to purchase a 2nd car, i currently have 5 years no claims. I have this protected with my current car. I am led to beliwve that I do not need to have no claims protection on my 2nd car. Does anyone know if this is correct? I am juyst worried about if i was 2 have an accident in the 2nd car.

Your second car will have no NCB on it to protect. Some co's will match the NCB on the second car as a good will gesture for the first year if you insure both cars with them but then come renewal time the second car will only have 1 year NCB.

When you have gained full NCB on the second car you can protect it if you want. If you don't you will lose some years should you have a claim. Just because you protect one lot of NCB that protection doesn't automatically cover you for any other NCB you have.

If you have an accident in either car it will affect both policies come renewal time as you have to declare it.

My hubby has got 3 lots of NCB in his name. 2 lots on 2 cars and 1 lot on a bike. He pays to protect all 3 lots.
