building and contents insurance can i move

hopefully this is the right place. Am i able to cancel my exsisting policy and take out another policy with a different company half way through a policy . ??? ??? ??? ???Thanks in advance

    you can, but i suggest you check your policy documents as some companies will charge you for cancelling, part way through a year...... (unless you have already paid it in full)

    ... even if you've already paid in full. Not sure how that makes a difference.

    If you've claimed during this policy year, you definitely can't cancel (or at least, not cancel and get a refund).

    No i haven't claimed and also pay monthly . Originally took out the insurance with my mortgage company but realise i can get a better deal else where . My renewel date was begining of nov and as i was out the country at the time never had chance to cancel it. hence they just carry on taking the payments.

    Many monthly plans are actually annual premiums with fee or interest added to collect monthly.

    Cancelling in 2nd ( and later yrs) usually is OK , but check first.

    They may want details of the new insurer, and some even charge a fee
