 I have been getting a limited service or no service signal in my house for 2 days so I called orange. They informed me that the mast within my area has gone down and wont be back up till the 1st. I asked him about forms of compensation and apparently in my contract it says that if your phone doesn't work for 5 days (1/6 of a month) then tough !!!!!!, just deal with it. I can use my minutes/texts the rest of the month so I haven't lost anything.
I HAVE LOST MY PHONE FOR 5 DAYS. For a start off I leave my house on a regular basis and walk around my area (it isn't working in the whole area). I take my phone around because I have a few medical conditions and it is vital I can contact family or emergency services straight away. That's the reason I have a mobile! But it's ok says the man. I can just turn my phone on and off several times till i am lucky enough to pick up a signal from a mast furthur away. Yes, I'm having an astma attack and I have no service. Do I really have time to be fiddling with my phone?!?
I have to admit though. The man on the phone was amazingly nice concidering I wanted to reach down the phone and bite his finger off. He was polite and professional the whole time...which was a shock!
I'm just annoyed because I'm sure I can't do anything about it!

orange sucks - even in london -i have to go up stairs in my house to get a signal- if i go downstairs the signal drops and i live in central south london of all places.
also i am with virgin - never had a drop call over the past 6 years0 -
Orange is normally really good with me. This is the first big problem I have had. I just can't leave my house till it is fixed :SDebts: Gym £[strike]465.75[/strike] Student account [strike]£1039.88[/strike] Overdraft [strike]£129.00[/strike] Credit Card [strike]£2772.22[/strike] Loan [strike]£6222.01 [/strike]

Me too...you mean there was a time BEFORE mobile phones?
Yep, orange are rubbish for signal in my area so I switched to T-mobile (cheaper too). Maybe you could just get a free PAYG sim for another network if you're worried about an emergency? Although would still involve a certain degree of fiddling...
What I love is the way that as much as people complain about getting no signal, as soon as a mast is being put up near them they're out in force to stop it0 -

I make sure I'm with someone for nowI;m on a contract and it has a long way to go. Normally they are fab with me. This is the only really big problem I have. The phone mast I have is about 50 metres from my house above a block of flats so i normally get an amazing signal!
