Help! Missing MSIMG32.dll - affecting programs

Options
I have had some problems since yesterday when my Outlook Express stopped working - I could not even open it.

Anyway with the help of good people here I have replaced it with Thunderbird.

When I went to uninstall Outlook Express (using COntrol Panel) I got a message saying I was missing a MSIMG32.dll file

I went off and downloaded a programme to fix this called RegCure.

RegCure won't open - guess why??? Missing a MSIMG32.dll file

Went off an downloaed a MSIMG32.dll zip file. My UNZIP won't open the file

I will start crying soon becasue this is driving me nuts and I have loads of work to do for a 8:30am meeting 60 miles away in the morning!!!

Please someone save me:mad:

MSIMG32.dll is usually found in c:\windows\system32 folder no need to download it! to check search for MSIMG32.dll in start>search>for files folders

    Try this:

Go to Start / Run and type in MSCONFIG then press enter

Click on expand file at the bottom right

    File to Restore = MSIMG32.DLL
    Restore from = C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
    Save file in = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32

    Then click on expand

make sure you do a search theres a decent chance its already on your pc somewhere in some folder (the missing dll) then registering it or putting it in the correct folder it says its missing from usually works.

  • Here is a thought....

If I reinstalled WIndows would I lose everything on my PC?

Oh and of course I can "UNinstall" anything because the application won't open in COntrol Panel - probably because of a missing MSIMG32.dll file ....sob sob...

    It's regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\msimg32.dll

but you may still get an error, you need to get that file in c:\windows\system32

    Try
    start, run, cmd

    in the black box

    copy C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\msimg32.dll c:\windows\system32

(thats all on one line with a space between dll and c:\windows\system32)

I did all that - put it in the black box etc - it said windows cannot open this file!
