cooker hoods

Just wondering if I am correct in my thinking.

We are looking at redoing our kitchen at somepoint. We only live in a flat so its not very big.

We have a vent in the bathroom (no windows) that runs through the kitchen and to the outside. If I got a cookerhood as part of a new kitchen would I be able to run the new pipe from the cookerhood to the exsisting pipe (blocked off behing some plasterboard type stuff) and join it up so it all goes out of the same hole?

Sorry not really, not if you want cooking smells in your bathroom and heaven forbid bathroom smells in your kitchen.
If its only a small kitchen use a cooker hood whih re circulates the air.
I use one and it just means i have to change the carbon filters every so often. But it does the job

We have a recirculating unit, its a pain changing filters (yes i am lazy and the filters do stink after a bit), so spend a little bit and get one you can stick the fat filters in the dishwasher and it should be great. I know when I redo the kitchen shortly I intend to spend a little more on the extractor, one of the which best buys recently was quite reasonable AEG Electrolux HC5690M for 280 odd.

We were looking round B&Q today after getting some paint for the hall. Saw a couple of kitchens we reallyed liked.
But got a wedding to pay for first! Then double glazing

Having just bashed my swede for the umteenth time on the blasted thing, next time I will go for one of those angled jobbies. They are tilted at about a 45deg angle. The standard ones are lethal to all but midgets. Thinks...perhaps I could have fitted it above head height?? But then it wouldn't be very effective....

shown, I have the same problem with the big chimney type things. I've opted for this one, slimline, only pulled out if you need it and leaves me an extra cupboard in my little kitchen. :)

that ikea one looks good, as I think it will be too much hassel to duct it outside. Think a stand alone one would be good. but also I think the massive chimney ones would be a bit too much in my kitchen.
