I will be going up to Manchester overnight next month to watch my rugby team play Sale in the European Cup.
Does anybody know somewhere relatively central to spend the night that isn't too expensive? I don't much fancy Manchester Piccadilly station.
Cheers!

Premier Lodge near the G-Mex, Ibis on Portland St (also got one near the BBC) or Manchester Conference Centre (Days Hotel), there is also a Travelodge on Ancoats St but a little out on the edge. All should be around £40 upwards me thinks.2p off is still 2p off!0

perhaps stay in stockport (isnt that there new ground?) sure there will be a travel inn nearby and you just get off the train one stop soonerReady to Go Go!0

Nearest reasonable hotel is Wycliffe Villa Hotel Edgeley which is within walking distance of Stockport Station & Edgeley Park.
As above get off at Stockport.

Also Premier Travel, again walkable but short taxi ride would be best

There is loads of places to stay...travel inn (gmex)(MEN)(Portland St) in the city centre. There is also a travel lodge in the centre (Briarfields St).
If you decide to stay in Stockport, try the Rudyard Hotel (A6 Wellington Rd) 0161 432 6900, the Saxon Hotel, The Alma lodge or the Davenport hotel.0 -
we stayed at the novatel for about 50 quid for the room, but i would reccommend princess on portland.
