Central Heating Controls

When I first moved into my house a few weeks ago, I could turn my central heating off instantly.

Now when I flick the switch on the controller, it takes a good 10-15 mins before the pump stops.

Any ideas?

  • System probably has an overrun facility built in. Otherwise if it turns off immediately the residual heat in the boiler may actually boil the water.

It may be thermostatically controlled and thus if the boiler is not at its hotest it will turn off immediately.

my heating/hot system does the same, the pump continues to push the hot water around the system after the boiler has switched off, to ensure that the boiler doesnt then boil the already hot water if it switches back on

its a saftey feature, if you are unsure, then get your local plumber to check the system out
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)
