Best chance of getting current account with full facilities

Hoping someone can offer some advice on a joint account for DP and myself. We've had a joint cashcard account with nationwide for a bit less than 2 years. When we opened this DP wasn't on electoral register so fair enough they could only offer us basic facilities. Since then we've tried upgrading the account at 6 month intervals only to be knocked back every time. We're fed up with not having a debit card and would like to move banks.

I have a fairly good credit score, 2 current accounts with other providers (a graduate account with natwest with a £2000 overdraft and current account with full facilities and £300 overdraft with IF) a couple of credit cards and other various accounts on my credit file all with a string of 0's for the last 2 years. However I am using about 85% of my available credit at the moment and have not had my own income Child Benefit and Tax Credits aside for over a year.

My partner until the last 18 months had no credit history but has now had a vanquis card for the last year with no missed payments as well as a contract mobile. He has changed address 3 times in the last years and was not on the electoral roll for 2006 but has been at each address for the last 2 years. He earns approx 30K pa

I'm aware that some banks won't probably give us an account with full facilities but which is most likely to? We're after a visa debit or maestro card (not electron or solo) but not too bothered about an overdraft though the possibility of one in the future would be useful.

So lovely guys and gals any ideas who we should try?

Thanks

Alliance and Leicester Premier Direct current account C/W Visa debit and cheque book and 8.5% AER paying interest, very good bank and I highly recommend them.

I think most banks would give you a full current account - Nationwide are known to be awkward when it comes to upgrading cash cards on existing accounts to debit cards.

I would personally try HSBC - they more than most banks base the facilities that they offer you on your conduct with them and not what a credit agency file says.

I've followed your progress with interest on the CC board Proliant, do you mind me asking if this is an account that you currently hold and if so when were you accepted for it?

    Thanks

Yes I have held an account with A&L since Feb this year, no problems so far, service good and account facilities very good, Visa debit card, cheque book and overdraft.
