British Gas rant!

Sorry for the rant but in February I rang British Gas and registered for the Essentials Tariff, I've got a prepayment meter and was told that the rate would automatically change on the meter but it would take a couple of weeks. After a month I realised that I was still having to put the same amount of money on the meter so I checked and it was still showing the higher pre-payment rate. I rang customer services and they said I'd been given the wrong information and my rate wouldn't change on the meter but I would get a rebate every quarter.

Fast forward to now and I've never had a rebate and the meter is still showing the higher rate so I rang the Essentials Tariff number, they checked and it turns out I'm not even registered! How can that be? I registered over the phone in February and since then have been told twice that I was on the essentials tariff and now I find out that I'm not and I've been paying the higher rate all this time! The guy I spoke to admitted he didn't have a clue how that happened and he's re-registered me and my meter should automatically adjust to the new rate but it will take a couple of weeks. I'll be checking my meter to make sure it does.

Moral of the story, even if you've registered for one of the social tariffs check to make sure you're actually receiving it! :mad:

    They can't find my daughter's supply, previous tenant swapped to them and paid by DD, now they can't find it when she rang, Transco can't find it either and companies won't let her sign up because they can't find her current supply either. what a mess
