It's this comment from the council that made my jaw hit the floor:
'Nick Lester from London Councils, which represents authorities in the capital, argued that handing the cash back was not necessarily in the public interest.
He said: "Where there's only a technical error, a small issue, where no-one was genuinely misled, the council can take the view, is it really a good use of public money to repay the penalty? Is that really what they should be doing?""You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
So we make a small technical error eg tyre half in a bus lane, then we get stumped for a £120 fine, they make an error which makes their signs/lines/pcn's illegal and its not in the public interest. And there was me thinking councils were working on our behalf.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

You're right, Peter. we are not allowed to make mistakes, but they don't have to get their own house in order. Utterly ridiculous.
Anyone who ever receives a council parking notice, should take a very careful look at it and the scene of the contravention, then take some advice from https://www.pepipoo.com before parting with a penny.0
