TESCO - taken money twice off credit card

Options
I have a pre-pay credit card, I bought £20 worth of food yesterday at Tescos.

I checked my account statement online today, they have taken the money out twice, about 14 hours apart from each other. How do I get my money back? Do I go down to tesco customer service and demand a refund? Its really frustrating because I am VERY skint, and need this money to pay a bill!

Go back to the shop. I had this with a local shop, except it was with my maestro card. I had to get a printed statement from the bank to show them where it had been taken twice (wasn't too keen on showing the assistant my bank statement but it had to be done). If you've got your account statement they should be able to do a straight forward reimbursement back onto your card - it might take a couple of days though.

The shop should refund your card upon seeing the documentation you have. I've heard of them doing this so many times, I won't use Tesco online now.

It wasn't online, it was in the shop.

The transcation was made twice but had a 14 hours gap between it being taken again.

I just went down there and had to wait about 45 minutes while they tried to sort it out, they told me to wait 3 days to see if it comes back in, and to contact my credit card issuer about the problem, but i don't see how its the credit card companies fault, as the money has been taken twice by tesco themselves; it says so on the statement.

Tesco said they looked through all the records and that it says on their systems that my card was only charged once.

This is very very frustrating as I need to give that money to my housemate to pay a bill but as yet i can't because tesco have it. I assumed I would be given the money back straight away, but as it is I am still in limbo, and no closer to finding out why it happened in the first place
