Grants for building works

Hi
I wonder if anybody can tell me about the 25k adaptation grants you can get to make life easier for disabled people. My son has special needs and due to his needs we require an extra bedroom. This can be done buy changing a couple of internal walls in our house but i dont have the money to do this. I am aware of these grants but can remember where i find out about them, does anybody have a link?
Thanks
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!

Is your son physically disabled? or is he on the autistic side? i ask because if it is the latter it can be harder to claim it than if he had physical dissability's. Also i think its a bit of a postcode lottery.
I know this as we had our claim rejected for our daughters, three girls, 1 room, youngest has development delay, middle has behavoural probs and eldest has dyslexia and attention probs we were turned down on 2 applications:mad: .I could have fought on but situation was getting desperate so we did it ourselves.

there is a post on here somewhere about a lady that finaly got it after a long fight so should give u a bit of hope.

You would need to contact your local council and they should give you the number of the OT that would need to ascess your son usually from social services, they have a limited budget each year so could be a long wait.

hope you have more luck than we did
