I am sick of getting lost! I borrowed a Navman unit from a friend for a couple of days and really didn't want to give it back. I am baulking at the £700 price tag though.
Any recommendations for a cheaper one? I want a dedicated unit that is easy to switch between cars

I have the iCN 510, cost us £399 back in March.
I've not had a chance to play with any other Sat Nav's so cant comment.
but its doing its job, and gets me from A to B.
The only bad thing of having a portable SatNav, is that it gets borrowed by every member of the family and friends. I dont think i've had it in my possession for the last 2 weeks, not even sure who does have it0 -
You mean people like me
. I got lost coming home again today  Well I have just started a new job in a new area and I was trying to find a way of shortening my 70 min commute. Today's route didn't work!
Looiks like a ICN520 will be coming home with me from PC World tomorrow lunchtime! I have nevr considered them cheap but they have some very good prices and I like the collect@store0 -
i think it'll be a good investment
let us know how you get on with buying/using one0 -
This is cheap, if i didn't have one i would be tempted.
I use tomtom on a PDA, it can be useful ( i hate reading maps) but it doesn't always take you the shortest way, you will know much better short cuts in your home area for example than the sat nav. A few weeks ago it sent me 12 miles south on the motorway, told me to come off at the next junction, go round the roundabout and back up the motorway passing where i had started..... and you did tend to stop thinking for yourself!0 -
Tom Tom is great.
As to above posts - Why use sat nav when you are driving locally? - You will know the way.
I've driven from Germany - through Switzerland - to France and Luxembourg on one trip and TomTom was brilliant - I wouldn't have been able to do it as stress free with a map.0 -
I would recommend looking at this site:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/
as it has lots of useful infomation and reviews on Sat Nav stuff and some of the stuff in the forums is useful especially retailers to buy from and retailers to avoid.
Hope this helps.
