Time limit for repairs at comet

Options
Does anyone know if there is a time limit on how long repairs should take @ comet. I remember some years back there was on some terms and conditions that set out that if the repair wasnt done within 28 days then you were entitled to a replacement TV. So from when they took it they have 28 days but I am unable to find this anywhere.

Any body know. I know from consumer law there is nothing specific written down , but I am sure I saw it in their T&C .. tbh it might have been currys/dixons back 10 years ago.

If anyone can help , much appraicated.

If it's not their policy and it's not written in their documentation, then it doesn't exist.
How long has your repair taken?Obviousl thereis the Sale Of Goods Act.
How long did you have it before it broke?
    How did you pay?

Consumer law covers this very specifically. You are covered for the 'reasonable lifespan' of a product up to six years under the Sale of Goods Act.

But isn't the question about the time taken to repair rather than a question about how long a product should last?

True, I've misread the OP. Cheers for putting me right.

yeah it is specifically how long (maximum) is it that they have. i managed to get a new TV out of them using their own rules. The TV was away for over 30 days at this point and I went in armed with their own documentation stating that if a repair took over 28 days i was entitled to a replacemnt or words to that effect.. but it is finding it now. Maybe they have deleted it .. i dunno but figure someone on here might know.

At the Citizens advice bureau I was told by my supervisor that 14 days is a reasonable amount of time for a tv repair. I would be writing a letter to Comet stating under the sales of goods act 1979 14 days is deemed to be a reasonable time to be without a tv

Does it actually say that in the act though?

No it doesn't, it says a reasonable amount of time which can mean different things depending on the item. This why I had to ask my supervisor because I wasn't too sure.

Take a chill pill dude .. why would i be evasive. I asked a simple question pertaining to the amount of time a retailer can keep a TV for repair before I can take some recourse. The reference to 10 years ago was referring to the time i saw the documentation when i forced the store to give me a new TV based on what was printed in their documents. I am trying to get the same documents now hense I asked the question.

Hasnt been a few weeks yet, plus the sales of good act would rather vague concerning repairing times, it give a reasonable amount which is open to interpretation ...

it broke 2 weeks before the warranty ran out (2 year warranty)

paid under a grand for it.

The point for asking the question is to so when push come to shove I can show them their own documentation which clearly states 4 weeks.
