My friend has sold a house to one of those sell quick companies and was told by a solicitor that they'd been getting a load of complaints about the deeds still having the old persons names on it (think its being rented to the dad [complicated split up ]. (thus being liable for certain things)
Would the land registry be the place to go (costs £3) or is there a free lookup, also is the land registry uptodate? or is there a delay on it?
Incidently if it was true could they not sell the property again (Im not saying anyone would i'm just curious as to a reason for not updating it)

the land registry is the place to go to find out who is the registered owner of registered land. if the property has not been sold since registration became compulsory they land registry may not know about it. it costs £3 - dont be a cheapskate !!!0
