Front Page Extensions??????

I am intending to create a website. But, I want to build my pages in Front page cos I can and its easy.

But, I have come across some hosting companies that are asking extra for frontpage extensions. (already offering FTP access type thing if thats the same in hosting package)

Could someone please explain in really really simple english, what is extensions and how is could affect me - or why would I want it????

I am clueless!

put it this way. I tried to do one on Frontpage last week, nearly battered my laptop cos Frontpage is so crap it wouldn't let me do anything.
It's not finished yet but i ended up writing the HTML myself and asking the odd question on here and using www.htmlgoodies.com for all the other bits i might need.

Scheming_gypsy has had some problems with Frontpage so I doubt a reccomendation
would be on the cards I however have had no such problems so I would say yes use Frontpage as its very easy to use, but some of the HTML is a little untidy but if you wish to design easy sites go for it.

And you wont need any FTP software to upload the site, as it has a built in
uploader, This does however mean you should never upload via a FTP program
or you will corrupt the Extensions.

Thanks - but my question was what is a extension, so telling me I could corrupt them means nothing to me!!!!!!

Plan is
a) build simple site on Frontpage (I assume I can do more than one page)
b) Upload to my hosting people that will be good but cheap and without corrupting the extensions??

Thats the extent of my plan..........

FrontPage Server Extensions are server-side scripts (script: A type of computer code used to perform tasks on Web pages, such as incrementing a "number of visitors" counter each time there is a new visitor. Web scripts can be written in several script languages. Scripts do not need to be compiled to be run.) that extend the functionality of FrontPage. These extensions support features such as hit counters, data collection, e-mail processing, and database processing.

Frontpage extensions basically just add dynamic content/functionality to your site without you having to input the code yourself, any half decent hosting company should not charge you extra for this.
