daughter having trouble getting student account

    My daughter has just graduated after 4 years at uni. She opened a student account with HSBC because they were offering a 4 year young persons rail card at the time which saved her loads. She opened with no problems at our local branch with just a small balance and she got excellent service all the way through.

    I agree the HSBC student account was great when I had one, especially the rail card.

    The Graduate account was OK, but as soon as the you take out a graduate loan they have you over a barrell when the interest free element of the Overdraft runs out after 3yrs. Although it's a long way off, definately think twice before getting a graduate loan with HSBC, it's like Big Brother is constantly watching you when you also have a current account with them.
