Pontins unilaterally change booking

Options
Earlier this year Mrs ReelCrazy decided she wanted to take the kids to Pontins, Prestatyn in October as a weekend break.

We booked over the internet (in April), paying the £50 deposit and then in mid August, we paid the remaining balance.

Everything seemed fine.... but then:

Two weeks ago a sales rep from Pontins rang Mrs ReelCrazy informing her that due to a "computer error" our booking could not be honoured unless we cough up another £115 because this weekend is special (dancing competition or something).

They offered us either the weekend after at Prestatyn, the weekend we booked for in Southport (a few miles from where we live - I don't think so) or we must pay the £115 extra.

Given that we had family booked in to a local hotel in Prestatyn while we were there (Pontins isn't their thing), we opted to pay the £115 rather than have to change our dates (annual leave in work booked etc).

What right have they got to bully us in this way? Can anyone see any way of us recovering the £115?

Thanks

Surely they cant do this, maybe it would be worth trading standards. They had advertised at a certain price and should honour that price. Just because they have some competition on shouldnt mean that they have to alter the price of peoples holidays - if thats the case they should up the price for anyone booking from then, and honour the price others have already been quoted/paid.

My way would be to go to trading standards

    Hope this helps

They can't do this. They must also offer you a cancellation with full refund. On top of that you should ask for a "goodwill gesture", or if they say they don't do that then you ask them for interest on your money at 8%.

    Absolutely correct.

They must refund you or give you the holiday for the price you have paid.

However I suspect that your break at a 'dancing weeken' might be fairly bad unless you're into that sort of thing, as they tend to cancel all of the normal activities on such occasions.
