Alliance & Leicester - 2% charge for non-Link cash machines

Alliance & Leicester slipped a notification in this month's statement reminder email (you know, the one that NO-ONE READS, sly dogs!) announcing that UK non-Link cash withdrawals will now attract a 2% charge. There is also some other guff about increased charges abroad but I don't use my A&L card abroad anyway so I'm not worried about that.
My initial reaction was OUTRAGE of course, but then I checked in at the Link website to see who the members were.

It seems that every cashpoint provider I can think of is part of Link already.
But are they? Are there some notable exceptions to this wot I have not fort of? Should I be cancelling my account..?
Thanks in advance, Moneysavers.

The cashmachines have logos on them to tell you if they are part of Link or not. Just look, if it's not then find another one to use.0

If you are not happy, vote with your feet. Plenty of other banks out there.0

Isnt that the same with any bank?0

This is the same with all banks, not just A&L, if I cant find a normal cash point I just get cash back from a supermarket, not that I use cash machines that often anyway.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

People. Sadly you misunderstand my question. Perhaps the comedy capslock and italicized Estuary English distracted you.
In essence my question was: are there any major cashpoint providers who are not members of Link? In other words, how much of a real impact will this have.
Cheers,

At the end of 2006 there were 34,545 free Link cash machines.
At the end of 2007 there were 36,918 free Link cash machines.
