We have an interview coming up for House/Petsitting! I'll have to buy some interview clothes, I don't even have any suitable shoes!
At least the sales are on, but surely all you need is clean and tidy, and sensible shoes for dog-walking?

Not that I'd want to put you off shopping, of course ... :rotfl:

I thought I should update my occasional posting of the Euro's progress over the years.

This is the high, low and average for each year since 1999.
I use the Oanda web site and untill 2011 used the interbank rate but in 2011 their site changed so I have used the daily Mid Point.
Note that notes and coins were introduced on January 1st
    Pound vs Euro

    Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AVERAGE
    1999!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1.386!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1.613!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1.519

It will be noted that there has been a long term trend of the pound weakening against the Euro.
However today (5th Jan 2012) £1 buys €1.202 which is near the high of 2011

2012 will be an interesting year.

    Does anyone have an comments?
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

I have no idea where All the !'s Came from. This was created in open office, copy and pasted into Google docs on my net book and then copy and pasted from Google docs on my iPad into the above post.
    So sorry.

I think they're quite fitting :rotfl:
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

They probably make the post more readable, because MSE strips multiple spaces out of posts, I believe.

This was written with 5 spaces between each word, for example.

Anyone from France update me on the breathalyser "law" being passed. When is it implemented, and are these readily available to purchase for 2€ish in France? The law is that you carry them I understand, not necessarily use them?? DG

  • Hope everyone had a good Christmas and wishing you all a good 2012.

We have an interview coming up for House/Petsitting! I'll have to buy some interview clothes, I don't even have any suitable shoes!

I'll let you know when it is when we know more. :)

We are still waiting to hear from one agency about an interview date, but the other one we applied to is taking up references. :):j:beer:

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

I don't have a suitable skirt or trousers (live in jeans), and although I have suitable shoes for dog-walking, I don't have suitable ones for an interview.
