I live in Spain and have done so for many years. I have two young kids at school here - so I'm not retired.
Even so, my finances, taxes, family, even my favourite TV programmes are still strongly tied up in England and Ireland.
Are you like me - living in Spain but with a vested interest in what's going on in the UK?
I'm particularly interested in Anglo/Spanish issues - if allowed.
Please post a comment... and please forgive me if I've gone about this the wrong way.I like living in Spain...0 -
I think you might be better posting on the "Living abroad tips and hints for money savers" which is usually at or near the top of the Over 50s Money Saving Board.0

You would indeed, I shall move you in there, where there are several Spanish (semi-)residents with a wealth of knowledge you can add to!Signature removed for peace of mind0

Where is everybody nowadays - I used to enjoy reading the posts in this thread? I don't live abroad at the moment so I never really had anything to add, but it was all very useful info for planning to in the future. How are all the regulars getting on? Please don't tell me you've all come back to the UK - my dreams will be shattered!!!0

Hi Beededee, I'm still here (although I am in the UK at the moment ) - we now do half and half, by choice.
Hello Charles Cooper and welcome to the forum. Which part of Spain are you in? We're in Grananda province in the mountains.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Not sure what has happened to our Spanish contributors, but do feel free to discuss any aspect of expat life, including Anglo/Spanish issues.
Oh, I see that sdw has just replied. Excellent.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -

It has been really quiet here over the last few months. Hopefully all the regulars will soon be back, along with Charles Cooper and beedeedee!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Anyway, you pose a good question! Glad to see sdw is still around, but Merrywidow seems to have disappeared completely. I guess folks have had very little to discuss this year, but it a pity that there were no other peeps resident in France to discuss issues here, like the Roma, the pensions disputes, etc.
I noticed a newspaper article yesterday (Daily Mail, I think) saying that France is covered in refuse. Well, I drove 1000km through France the other day, and I didn't see any. Nor is there any extra rubbish in our village. It is true that the refuse collectors are on strike in a few of the major cities, though.
News from here is that the bellwall of the village church has had its nasty grey concrete rendering removed, and now we can see the original stone and Toulouse brick finish, albeit with plenty of new mortar pointing! And our veg plot has been ploughed.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
