Wow thank you so much droopsnout!
Some brilliant tips there. I just read them all aloud to my husband and he's going to ring her later and instruct! haha.
Are you leaving France? Or just moving?

Not leaving, no.
Looking for a smaller house with a bigger garden ... But it's selling that is the problem for the moment.
Glad you found some of the tips useful.
Whereabouts does your MIL live? We are in the south-west.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -

Hi SFG,
Although living in Spain and not France, we've found that quite a few high street stores deliver here now and would imagine to France as well.
pharmacy2u.co.uk - for cheaper paracetamol etc
nextdirectory - think their delivery charge is 5-7 euros
debenhams.co.uk
play.com - tiny bit more than Amazon but deliver free
hmv.com - delivery was free the last time I used them
and of course good old M&S, they often have delivery offers (over Xmas it was free to Spain), you also get 30days to return unwanted items.
If your MIL has a garden or even small patio you'd be surprised at what veg you can grow in tubs, aubergines, peppers, toms, pots and carrots in large tubs.
Boot sales are usually good for finding clothing, second hand books etc.
Hope this helps a bit.

We're in Spain too, but what we have done in th past with things, especially things like DVDs and CDs, is order them from somewhere like www.hmv.com (free delivery) and have them delivered to the next lot of friends who are coming to visit us. You can get some real bargains on hmv.com.
Also my husband ordered some compatible ink for his printer; there was a delivery charge (£4.50) to be delivered to Spain but it still worked out cheaper than buying the branded one. He got it from www.ink2u.co.uk .(AKA HRH_MUngo)
