Yes I see exactly what you mean . Thank you I was being slow. At the moment we have an elderly mother in law to consider but I think our life will be a moving feast.

A more detailed reply now I am back "home" in the UK.

Our real problem is that we have a "holiday home house" one that needs minimal maintenance, which suits me down to the ground, but DH loves pottering, however, if we change to a real house, then we would have a problem when we left if for months at a time, so no easy solution. Just had a great 9 nights in the caravan, the weather picked up immediately after my last post and has been glorious.

I think the problem with months about in Spain is that you would still feel on holiday and want to act as holiday makers and not residents, and it does not give you time to join groups/clubs or build up a social group. I also feel the travelling would get expernsive.

As we are not unhappy with the situation in general, just the occasional moan, then we will continue in no fixed pattern until we are uhappy.

The pound continues to make progress:

    1 GBP = 1.16272 EUR
    1 EUR = 0.860055 GBP

Too right. It actually went well below 1.14 at one stage. It collapsed yesterday afternoon after I posted (mea culpa!) and had a dismal day today, too.

In my house in the English Midlands for a couple of months after a good journey over -12 hours drive across Spain, 30 hours on the Pride of Bilbao and a couple of hours up to the Midlands from Portsmouth.

House doesn'tseem to need quite as many repairs as it normally does!

Chalky our place is also in Almeria - couldn't reply earlier as I was out there :D, but am back now :(, very hard to leave :undecided

I think the heat will be a deciding factor with OH - he was already saying it was too hot so goodness knows what he will be like when we go out late August . I realise though that living there you make a different life, and also become somewhat acclimatised.

We have been hit by fewer bookings this year & we still have about 12 days to spare in the summer. I've had 3 enquiries about this period in last few days though so here's hoping. All Spanish enquiries, which is quite telling. There are some residents where we are who may have to return home which is sad. They had depended on getting some work in Spain but that has somewhat dried up, and also the exchange rate has hit them hard.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
