Car Hire - no credit card - Urgent!!!

Hey all
I'm having a massive panic, just went to print out the voucher for my car hire to pick up in alicante airport on Sunday lunch time. It requires that I need a credit card in my name to collect. I dont have a credit card!!
Does anyone know of a hire company that I can pay with a solo card or in cash at obviously short notice.

dont panic ,we have just come back from cyprus we hired a car there . My brother inlaw was following us over for the second week,he also needed to hire a car and had the same problem.
He booked with www.economycarrentals.com/ he never had a credit card so he rang them up they said no problem he could pay £26.00 over the phone he used his mates card and pay the difference when he arrived so it may be worth your while checking them out.

Hi Lucie

Try the Avis website - join Avis preferred ( no cost) and then book with your debit card or the card details you enter on their website.
You then just pick up the envelope with the keys in, I sailed through Alicante last year despite the long queue.
No admin as all is completed online.
A tad more expensive for the car but worth it.

Hi, I have had a nightmare trying to book car hire in Pisa Italy with no credit card but successfully today I have dont it through Holiday Autos !! They have for £249 pre booked with Europa at Pisa Airport for one week an economy car (apparently you can only have economy car if paying by cash). I just have to leave them 500 euros and collect this when I return the car.

Yippee for all of us people who dont own credit cards it can be done and the lady at Holiday Autos was very helpful too (Sarah).

We \only use a debit card...........and found carhire3000.com to be really helpful and not too expensive !!:j

but carhire3000 is a broker, and like any broker, u can book and pay for a car over here using a broker.
Its when you goto collect the car, where they take the imprint of the card or put a 'block' on the card for certains funds which determins whether you get the car or not..
I.e. Budget rental (not in Spain mind), require a credit card when you collect a car, even if you have the Full insurance.....

Hi Everyone, very late i know but if you only have a debit card and want to hire a car then the only company i found is Indigo Car Hire they have many suppliers all over the world and they can arrange it even if you dont have a credit card.
