HELP! Is there anyone out there that can help?

I've not done this before, but here we go.
I got roped into paying ALOT of money for 'holiday points'. I now have thousands of points, no time to use them (new family) & a very large maintenance bill every year. Of which I cannot afford!!

I then, admittedly very stupid but desperate to get rid, paid a resale company even more money to sell the points & contract to somebody in a more suitable position.
Unfortunately this hasn't panned out either, as to sell the above I was told I'd have to fly to Spain. Having a 3 month old baby made this out of the question.

I do know others with the same company & really enjoy the deal, but I am not in a position to make the most of the scheme. I now find myself paying out hundreds a year for something I do not use, and then hundreds more trying to get rid.

Is there away out of this downward spiral? Please help, I'm trying to build a life for my family. Instead I'm getting more & more in debt.

What points are they? (RCI, Club La Costa, Sunterra?)

You can go a resale route but you will almost certainly take a big hit v what you paid. E.g. Club La costa points which are sold at anything between £15 - £30 a point generally go for about 10% of that i.e. £1.50 - £3.00 through re-sale.

You should not pay an up front fee - avoid any "re-seller" that tries to charge you one. UK based re-sellers such as Aberfoyle and Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket appear to be OK - but I have never actually used them. You can use them to see what people are asking for the same points you own. Please remember these are asking prices not actual prices achieved.

Another route to check out is e-bay - search on "timeshare", there are usually about 100 or so.

Other options include using the points to book a holiday somewhere then sell the holiday on e-bay or let riends/ family use it at a reduced price. Some points systems have websites run by members and some of these have Buy/Sell section.

Finally, if you cannot sell and want to cut your losses (i.e. stop paying annual fees etc) you may be able to hand the points back. Check your documentation or contact the issuer to see what the process is for this.

    Thanks for your information.

I have 10,000 points with Sunterra/Diamond resorts. I've not had the opportunity to use any.

I'm with ETOO to try to sell them, & so far have had no joy. I contacted them almost 6 months ago with no joy so far.
Sunterra/Diamond resorts do have a members site, which apparently have a section to sell to existing members but you have to pay to join, the experience I've had so far made me reluctant to part with any more money (if only I'd thought like that before).
I'm starting to think for the small fee, it may be worth it after all.
It would have to be a last resort to give them up, as we paid a large amount for them. I would be happy to get a percentage if it came to it.

I have contacted Sunterra about my position, they suggested their members site or to swop points for weeks, which are apparently easier to sell?

Can you not even manage one holiday every 2 years? With our points we can save them up one year and have double the points the following year for a better holiday. If you can do that but can't even manage to get away then I'd go with the trying to sell the holiday to a friend option. Even let your friend book the when and where then use your points and pay you to do so.

Hopefully you haven't paid any money to Etoo yet, as they may tell you they have a corporate buyer, they don't .. they say that to get you out to Malaga, and the 'corporate buyer' who meets you, takes you to their offices then tells you that Etoo (who they pretend are a separate company) have lied to you as they don't buy timeshares ... then they try and sell you a Club Class Holiday membership. When, in fact they're both the same company.

Please read my thread on Page 6 on my trip to Malaga and the way they tricked me into going out there with a guaranteed sale ...

Ive got loads of points and no before you chuckle, they are not driving points.

They tesco clubcard points. You can trade them in for holidays at four times their face value.
