Got to agree with some of the comments on the salespeople. Unfortunately, I think these are some of the ones which will survive the "cull"
Like I've said before we have the quandry of best overall deal v best deal WE can get, nearly every time we sit down with a customer. Bank advisers don't have this quandry as they can usually only recommend their company's deals.
Like a few advisers on here, I have sent customers direct to the mortgage lenders recently which has cost me personally several hundred (if not thousands) per week over the last month or so. Whilst colleagues have worked on the "we can only advise on what we can offer" basis. Unfortunately against my principles I am going to have to join their way of thinking as I need to pay my own bills/mortgage etc.
I understand that the banks need to keep their own staff busy - but they are using that as an excuse for getting customers in front of them in order to sell other products such as current accounts (Halifax insisting on this for some customers) insurances (Abbey and Leeds have previously given lower rates for taking their insurances).
I think the situation could be partly resolved by allowing brokers to sell these direct only products, but with the mortgage lenders not paying proc fees on these deals. I know it would be a prelude to all lenders removing proc fees - a situation which I think we should adopt. We can then move to a more transparent fee based service0 -

i read about this and its very disappointing to hear.
Once again, the report said they visited 15 broker and 3 were prepared to be fraudulent. The other 12 were not.
A small scale test like that does not really represent the wider market place. 20% in this report were wrong but 80% were right.

especially if the researchers for the programme chose brokers that were likely to be doing this to form their sample:
London based (all of them); with the advertising to suggest a risk (the one man band featured); part of a previous programme (Alexander Hall on the BBC a number of times).
The only one that really surprised me was the Chase de Vere guy who I would have expected more from. More than pulling out at the last minute.
I plan to do an expose to show how all journalists sensationalise stories and entrap people for monetary gain. I will have a fair representative sample of 4 journalists based in London, working for the Sun, Daily Sport, Daily Mail and News of the World.
Prepare to gasp in horror as I expose the one journalist willing to publish my accusation that Girls Aloud callously used and abused me after I set myself up as a high class escort catering for WAGS.
