Daughter going abroad with Grandparents...

Just wondered if anyone knows if she will need any sort of paperwork to allow her to travel without me.
She is going to Portugal, her dad and his partner were meant to be going when the trip was booked but has now pulled out so thought i'd better see if she needs any special permission for traveling without a parent
Thanks

My in-laws regularly take my 5 and 6 year old to Portugal without me or their dad. No special paperwork needed at all, just their passports obviously .0

There is some law I seem to remember reading about. I would give them a letter to take just in case. Better to be safe than sorry.0

I didn't think it'd be a problem but thought i'd better check, I have to take her full birth certificate if I want to take her anywhere apparently (different surnames) I know it's better to be safe than sorry just seems silly.
Thanks for your help guys x0 -
not entirely sure but i think a letter with all your contact details giving your permission wouldn't be a bad thing0

When I take my nephew away with us I take a photocopy of his parent's passports and a letter from them authorising me to take him with us - it was recommended on this site when I asked the question in another thread and I'd rather have too much paperwork than not enough:beer:0

Yeah thats what I was thinking, don't want them to get to the airport before they find out. Will get my passport photocopied and get her dad to do the same, Thanks for the advise :j0

My parents take my niece on holiday every year for the last 7 years and have never been questioned at the airport. I took her away last year and no one said a thing:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

I asked this same question recently. I sent my son with a letter giving permission to take him out of the country, and to seek medical attention and authorise anything major he needed I also included my contact details, they weren't asked for anything but I felt better safe than sorry. Don't forget to send your daughter with an E111/EHIC card.0

All you need is a Passport......no need for carrying birth certificates and the like.0

i can see how people say X relative took our tommy on holiday and just took their passports ....but in some of those cases the relative will have the same surname as little tommy.
i know of a couple of friends who have had minor problems over this issue in the past.
my maxim is better to be safe than sorry0
