Normally I'm first in the queue to throw stones at the big banks!
Reasonably happy with Yorkshire bank, but it's a Maestro card and some of the online bookies I do don't accept it.
Just walked in to Lloyds on Tuesday afternoon with Lucifer and Beelzebub in tow, picked up a leaflet, and was just browsing. Pleasant young lady came up, asked if she could help, explained that I just need the basic account as it offers a Visa debit card, not worried about chequebooks or overdrafts.
Walked out twenty five mins later, account opened and nice letter in my hand stating a/c and sort numbers.

Pretty Visa debit card arrived this morning!!!!
Just waiting on pin now, my hat goes off to Lloyds on this occasion - more than met my expectations.

Sorry to sound ignortant here, but I have "never" sent paperwork of such through the post when setting up Bank Accounts, all the ones i have ever had "Woolwich/Brittania/RBS/Nationwide & now HBOS) have all taken the paperwork in branch.

Just wondering why you are not doing all the setup through the branch? Of course, you may not have a branch nearby and you work all day, in which case fair excuse lol

im sure ive had to send documents off for an account before

I know you've probably already thought of it but if the 'online bookies' have a 'switch' option on the payment page, you can choose that for a Maestro.

LTSB Basic cash account is "good" but the only problem is that you can only use the card in LTSB cashpoints. You cannot use any other Link machines.

Well the advisor told me over the phone that they are changing this very soon, so you can use link.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.
