Pampered chef advice please

Hello,

I'm thinking about starting to do pampered chefs parties it would mean a couple of evenings a week and you can earn roughly from £60 a party. I'm asking for some advice, has anyone worked for them before? What are they like to work for?

Any advice would be great thanks

    Hi

I dont work for Pampered Chef ( I do Usborne Childrens Books ) but I have met a few Pampered Chef ladies when I do events. On one occasion the feedback the lady kept getting was the items were expensive but the event might not have been the right event for her.

I think if you feel passionate about selling your product this will reflect in your sales.

Good luck if you decide to go for it

My mum has tried several selling jobs, one of which included the Pampered Chef.

With it being an american company, I just don't think it is right for the UK market. The way the utensils are priced and advertised just doesn't get the UK market interested for some reason.

Don't get me wrong, we still have loads of stuff we ended up buying from there and it is great stuff, the quality is great - but it is overpriced for what it is, really.

I am sure someone will be along who has experience of them. Have you tried contacting the company and asking if they have any targets ? I know when I was looking for a stay at home job alot of them seemed to have monthly targets which I didnt want as I wanted to be flexible as possible.

    Good luck anyway

I declined invites to a couple of these parties because the stuff was soo expensive, I know others who brought the cheapest item because they felt they had to !

My sister used to work for them. She really enjoyed it. I don't think she had targets as such (might be wrong), I think it was a percentage commission.

The biggest problems she had (she doesn't work for them anymore), is she ran out of friends (and she has a lot of friends!). But even if each friend hosts 1 party for their friends, once it's done it's done. The stuff isn't consumable (like cosmetics are) so once people have been to one party, they don't necessarily want to go to another in 6 months. Pampered Chef told her she would pick up parties from guests at her friend parties but it didn't work like this for her.

The other thing she found was it was hard to get sales because the stuff was so expensive, she felt those who did buy felt they had to (hostess receives a gift, the value of which was determined by the level of sales at the party - she was supposed to hammer this home a lot which she didn't like.

On the plus side, she got to buy a load of stuff for herself (For demo purposes) at a reduction (quite a good one I think) which she still has and uses. So it's not all bad.

My friend did parties with this company (she gave up). Most times she had feedback that the items (nice as they are!) are way too expensive and guests at the party were forced to buy the cheapest items (which was expensive by any standard!) to qualify for the points. Soon people understood that type of party was quite awkward and either refused to host them or refused to come. My friends sources died very quickly.

    Best of luck,

    Hi

I have been doing pampered chef for nearly 6 months now. and am in Suffolk Essex area

Depends what you are looking for and your circle of friends. My recommendation is to try and get out away from your circle of friends ASAP.

Some months are good some are not so good, if you are not urgently looking for an income stream and take every commission cheque as something you otherwise would not have had then it works until you are more established.

My long term plan is to get established over next 12 months (when DS1 starts school and DS2 starts preschool) and then I can have a little more time to concentrate on building things.

I plan to contact charities to get a bit more wide scope.

As a company they do look after you with incentives etc.

A qualifying party is £125 and you do realy need to get the host on board to get the people in for the evening who are going to spend. Need 10 people but if a friend brings friend then that is easily built up and means that there is someone not linked directly to the host which helps get away from friend circle

Average spend is 25-30 (some spend £5 some spend £50)

It suits me at the moment as I have no family who can look after our kids so day time work with child care paying just did not add up.

I live in suffolk and cover 25 miles or 25 mins which ever is least!!

saying that you have no boundaries as the deliveries are made to the host so you do not have to deal with that side which is the other thing which appeals to me. I did a party in Bedfordshire recently as was passing mother in laws!!!!

No real pressure as you are own boss but you do need to have a qualifying party every 2 months (QUALIFYING MEANS THE GUESTS GET FREE DELIVERY) YOU STILL GET PAID FOR A NON QUALIFYING ON

I have not had a non qualifying party so far but am sure it will come!

    commission is 20%

I have had payment of £25 to £120 and you get extra money for sales in a month of over £1000, £2000 and £3000.

I would say it is worth looking at and you get loads of free products. you do not need to keep stock as such as it is all sent by UPS to host when orders taken.

Bit jumbled but hope it makes sense of a fashion/ Just emptied my little PC brain!!!!!! more information can be found on a forum on netmums if that helps any more.
