Got to agree with payingfornowt and davek1.

This guy is no friend. You could lose your house!

He's use you and now he can't get any more out of you couldn't care less. You are liable for the debt so you should definately be going after him through the courts.

If you want to know all the transactions, you could ask for a subject access request from the bank. This will have all the details, but not be actual statements so the most they can charge is £10. They are legally obliged to provide the information within 40 days.

Personally, I think this is a wind up-
Who in their right mind would give a friend a credit card?

    Bizarre

Not too sure about that Bunny.

His first post in 2006 was about him and friends going to Florida.

Richard, have you checked with one of the free debt charities if an IVA was the best option for you?

whoa here there is plenty you can do. You could sue him in the small claims court for starters.

There doesn't need to be a written agreement just implied agreement that monies will be paid. Happy to help further if you want. You could also consider reporting the matter to the police for obtaining money by deception contrary to section 17 theft act 1968. Again happy to help further.

I very much doubt there is any point of taking it to small claims - he knew exactly what was going on to the card - the guy was going on holiday - his 'friend wanted to come too' - he let him put his share on the card. The 'friend' started putting debts on it - he let him do it - he waited 2 years before thinking 'hhmmm, not sure I like this!'

If he had suddenly put a huge amount on, without the knowledge of the OP, then maybe he could pursue it through small claims, but the rules state that the main cardholder is wholly responsible for any money spent by a second card holder. Even if found in his favour, it would probably go to the bailiffs and the chances are he wouldn't see much of the money for a long time.

He knew what was happening and just did nothing for over 2 years.

I think it's a harsh lesson about trusting supposed friends sadly.
