£300 Kuoni deposit going begging

Hi there,
Myself and my girlfriend are getting married in August and had booked our honeymoon to Thailand. We've recently found out however that she is pregnant and have decided to go somewhere in Europe instead.
The problem is that we had paid a £300 deposit with Kuoni for this which I don't think we can get back. They have suggested we "bank" it (with them-for a small additional cost) and use it perhaps next year. However i'm fairly sure with a baby on the way, booking expensive holidays is not a likely event next year!
I was wondering if it might be possible to change the names completely (i'm sure there would be a cost attached!) and then effectively sell our £300? At least then i'd get a % of it back?
Has anyone ever done this before and know if it would be feesable? Just thought i'd ask here first, as i suspect if i ask Kuoni, they'll probably try to discourage it so they can keep my £300.
Any help or info is greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Thank you, but we looked into it, and there wasn't anything else they offered that we fancied. We've booked our new honeymoon now too, and doubt i'll be booking any more holidays in the near future!0 -
Congratulations!
But i'd say no chance. The money is kept as Kuoni have in effect done 90% of the work, so they won't let you sell on the deposit (which they only carry over because they are nice!).0 -
Congratulations, hope everything goes well for your both. They do holidays in Europe too, can't you just change the desination. If I were you I would try and have a holiday now before your little one arrives. Have one last holiday as the two of you and worry about family holidays later.0

Many years ago I booked a holiday to Thailand £400 deposit)and then I couldn't go due to family reasons, we booked with a TA who called Kuoni who offered us another holiday with them using the deposit, we looked through their brochure but nothing was really suitable for one reason or another(mostly the price). I was prepared to lose the deposit but the TA somehow managed to get them to agree to return our deposit, though she wanted us to book something else with them. We then booked a holiday to Cyprus with another TO later in the year.0

Have you already got travel insurance as if you have you can claim back most of your deposit as we did around 2 years ago in the same situation. With most insurers you only lose £25 each for loss of deposit so £50 in total which is better than losing hundreds. Just a thought!0

But in this instance is it not 'disinclination to travel?'0
