Hi
Ive always been with Swalec.
I did have card meters (bloody things) but now after a dodgy christmas that i ran out of gas I have changed to meters and get my bill quarterly.
I dont pay by direct debit I pay with a payment card every month at the paypoint thingy at work.
My bill for Jun - Sept was
£70 electric
£40 gas
Cant remember the bill afterwards.
Then my bill for Jan - March was
£147 gas
£40 electric
Now I thought these were pretty good (we are a 2 bed ground floor flat, we have 2 fish tanks that are constantly on, tv and comp on alot, not to mention washing machine and other odd bits and bobs)
Now I had a nPower man call round today and talk to me - fobbed him off for now by sayign i want to discuss it with my fella and to be honest he "quoted" Martin Lewis "that GMTV guy" and mentioned fixed tariffs so ive come online to do my research.
Would you switch? Would it be financially worth it for me? Me and boyfriend arent exactly loaded infact we struggle alot and figured that the prices we were paying with Swalec were really good.

Have you tried entering your annual kWh consumption into a few of the comparison websites in the resource bar at the top of this page? Never switch using a door to door [STRIKE]scumbag[/STRIKE] salesman! They will tell you anything to get their commission. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I would do a comparison also,
Just one word of warning luv, I changed to NPower last year and have had nothing and I mean absolutely nothing but trouble with them.
I have managed to change my gas now but am still with them for Electricity as they have totally mucked up the billing and are threatening to take me to court because I won't pay the bill. All I want is a correct bill (I have given them 3 meter readings so far)
All of this is with their executive comlaints department now AND HAS BEEN FOR 3 WEEKS NOW !!! and I have still got no-where.
No, I for one would definitely not recommend NPower.
Of course other people might find them okay.

Whoever you switch to, do not go to npower, npower are being investigated by ofgem and energy watch over numerous malpractices including over charging, and their tariff year. the contract states max of 4572 kwh charged at tier 1 per year ie. 12 months, but in practice npower state they charge you a max of 4572 kwh tier 1 per tariff year, ie. per few to several months. Also, take whatever comparisons with npower as a pinch of salt, as they compare contracted 4572 kwh tier 1, where in practice npower will charge you at least that and more in a 12 month , year period.
As for kwh, you really need to know how much gas / elec you use in a 12 month period and measured in kwh. If you are not sure what they are, an average household uses 20,000 kwh gas and approx 3,000 kwh electricity. If you have a large house, or large family, or you have heating by electricity then of course you would likely use much more electricity / gas, although if the heating was electric then you would use much more electric, and less gas.
If you work, on your own/ and or partner who works too, with a 2 bedroom house, no kids etc.. you would use less, guessing around 14,000 on gas (if heating by gas) and around 2000 to 2500 on electricity.0 -
I'm also anti NPower! Have put a thread explaining the issues up on here, but they have been an absolute nightmare - would advise anybody to avoid them, nothing but trouble!0

Ok
so collettes post just confused me.
Ive done 3 seperate comparison things and got 3 different results
one said nPower
one said British Gas
the last said E-on.
Think I'll just stick with Swalec - Im happy with them, i find their customer service good and have never had any major problems and the minor ones i did have were sorted there and then for me.
Yep thats it decision made - thank you all
