I bought a Pioneer Plasma TV in Sept 2006, it came with 12 month warranty which I didn't extend as it was additional £500, which I didn't have.
At the weekend it suddenly switched off along with the other electrics. After flicking the trip switch and turning power back on, from mains first, TV would not work, checked plug fuse and socket, they are fine.
I paid alot of money for this TV and was under the impression they lasted 5-10 years not less than 2years!
Any suggestions?

Did you find out what caused the consumerunit to trip?, if it wasn't tv then you may have a claim under house insurance.
Also don't panic may just be an internal fuse, as for the warrenty it don't mean a thing, consumer rights give you up six years protection, talk nicely to the shop you bought it from, they may try to help and compromise, yes a tv should not die this early and speak to trading standards just so you know, not to be used as a first assault weapon. try the i'm a poor victim approach firstclick here to achieve nothing!0 -
Thanks for response.
No idea why it tripped out, but only TV was affected, however, 30 mins ago my upstairs lights just tripped out as my son turned it on???
Could be internal fuse or inverta tube (is that the same - no idea) just suggestions people have made. Will this be expensive? If I get a non-pioneer repair man to look at it, won't that cancel out any claim I have with Pioneer, not that I am covered by warranty.
What right would I have to claim under house insurance? Faulty electrics? House was fully rewired 18 months ago, but that's another story for another forum.

appart from the fact if it wasn't the tv that caused the power to trip the op has no claim whatsoever against the shop as it's their dodgy electrics that have damaged the tv. Hopefully it's just the fuse in the plug, but if not then it's going to be a whole case of he said, she said and you'll probably have to fork out for an engineers report to prove it was the tv at fault.0 -

not quite sure what's being said there, is it that is another possibility that if the electrics damaged the tv then OP may have a case against the electrician?
TBH this will be a tricky one and no denying it will need sorting out fast, even if the shop gracefully accepted responsibility and performed the repair foc, if its dodgy electrics and blows again after only a month they sure won't be so considerate next time.
