Hi
I did a stupid thing and brought a pair of trainers from next on an account i set up, i dont remeber why as i had the money at the time but i did! this was in January 2007.
I made minimum payments but never set up a standing order, i might of missed 1 or 2 but i was usually pretty good (gave structure to boring sundays!) in July 2007 i moved house but spent 4 months living between mates houses etc while the house was being renovated (you could imagine i was stressed at the time) i definetly wrote letters notifying all that needed to know including Next of my new address and i picked my mail up every couple of days and paid the bills and this went on for 5 months and then i realised i hadnt heard from Next.
I contacted Next who said they received no notification of change of address so i did then over the phone but apparently they had started the neccessary proceedings to recover the debt of £77! they gave me the contact details of who the debt was given to and i phoned them up and cleared it straight away with no questions asked.
But now i have a default on my credit report and i can't even open a new current account let alone a 0% credit card to transfer a debt im paying 24.9% on!
Is there any course of action i can take?

Hi I asked a similar question and someone kindly gave me these links to help.
"You need to work your way through the procedures listed in the factsheet below (page 19 onwards) providing evidence at each stage that the default on the account was not your fault.
