Hi, we are also planning on doing this, we are also in a semi and we do have the neighbours knocking now and again. We also hear them, so have a bit of mutual understanding, if the noise is too much we let each other know. Mrsbudget, try not to feel too bad about it, sound travels very easily between semis if yours is anything like ours!

We are replastering 2 of the party (is that the word) walls, and were planning to use acoustic board, if anyone has any experience of this we'd love to hear it!

    Thanks

My neighbour is quite deaf so tends to shout a lot and has the tv blaring. The wall between her house and mine is made up of 3 sheets of normal plasterboard on her side, the wooden stud frame, a very small gap, then stud fame and 3 sheets of board on my side.

I ripped off all the board on our side and put slab insulation in our stud frame, a layer of normal foil backed plasterboard, a horizontal layer of 19mm plank board and then a layer of soundbloc plasterboard. I now can't hear a thing in that room.

In another room, I couldn't face going to that extreme again as I was doing it myself and was a lot of work, so I used Green Glue and put another layer of board over the existing board. So far, it seems to have made a difference.

If you don't want to go back to basics with the wall and just wanted to add board, I'd seriously consider using the Green Glue as well. Expensive but worth it imo. Our local authority uses it on any public buildings it alters now.

Hi, Really thinking of having to resort this. Just wondered if the soundproofing you all talk about made a difference to 'impact' type noise like banging doors, up and down stairs etc?
    Thanks
