what does buying a house entails info etc

hi

Wondering if anyone can help.

We currently own our own home ex council and been in it for 20 years.

We are looking to move but just dont know the ins and outs, and also it is a bit scarey moving after so long.

How can i price the house if it is a one of, house with its own land all other ones like it are different, eg farms more land etc.

It has an offers over price , how the hell do you judge roughly what it will go for , it is in need of a good modernisation.

Thanks for any help but i am clueless in this as buyering your own ex council is different to a offers over house

thanks

Sounds like you are in Scotland? Why don't you get an estate agent to value it (and advise you)?

As Bryan mentioned it would probably be your best bet to contact an estate agent. Try a few different estate agent's as their valuations can vary, take into account the fee that they will charge, which is normally a percentage of the value of your house, so the best valuation (most expensive) may not always be the best one to go for once you have taken costs away! Although they all tend to be around the same percentage.. Also good to go by word of mouth...when we were selling our house we swapped estate agents as the first ones we though were great turned out to be not so great! very unhelpful!

It is very stressfull selling a house but can too also be exciting!

Once you have a valuation contact solicitors who will be able to answer any queries you may have, your estate agents may also use their own firm of solicitors..again go by word of mouth if you can!

    Hope this helps you!

That's different! In the present market everyone has a different opinion. You could ask an independent valuer, but even then it's just someone's opinion especially as it sounds like a one off.
