Hi All
Just To Share Some Info Really.
I Have Always Paid For My Dental/prescriptions As We Were Never Elligible For The Excemption Thru Tax Credits System. Dentist Told Me To Complete A Form To See If I Could Get Help Towards Cost And It Has Come Back Yesterday And I Dont Have To Pay A Thing Now And Can Have The 198 I Have Just Paid To Dentist Refunded Back. I Was Never Aware Of This Until My Dentist Told Me And I Just Want To Share It.:t

Thanks for sharing that, I'm sure it will be useful to a lot of people.

Is it because you are on a low income, even though you are not on the 'right' benefits?

Yes is would be due to a low Income and the form that was completed was probably a HC1, details on the following link : http://www.ppa.org.uk/ppa/HC1_form_intro.htm

    hi
YES THAT IS RIGHT A HC1 FORM. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF IT UNTIL NOW AND WE ARE NOT REALLY WHAT I WOULD CALL ON LOW INCOME BUT WE DO HAVE LARGE MORTGAGE AND THEY DO ASK HOW MUCH IT IS ALONG WITH COUNCIL TAX ALONG WITH ANY SECURED LOANS.
NEVER MIND ANYWAY I AM WELL PLEASED THAT I CAN CLAIM BACK MY 198 QUID . HOORAY!

Would you mind advising how long it took for them decide you don't need to pay ? I sent my HC1 off two weeks ago but haven't heard anything as yet.

    Many thanks

I will advise my son to apply for one, he is on minimum wage and does around 20-24 hours a week.

One thing I must ask though, does the help with dental charges only apply if he is with an NHS dentist?

I know if he is eligiblefor help it will also give him help with specs and prescription charges, so it's still worth applying for, but would be good if it covered him at the dentist too.

is it based on income and savings.

As we have a low income with husband on benefits and me earning. But we do have savings.

Recently husband paid for £198 for dental work.

    Must pick up a form.

    Yours

    Hi All
The Form Says They Will Look At It Within 2 Weeks Of Receiving But Mine Took Around 4 Weeks To Come Back And Yes It Is For Nhs Dentists, Eye Tests, prescriptions And Wigs Etc. It Is Worth Trying For As Even If U Dont Get Full Excemption You Can Get A Percentage Of Costs Paid Depending On Your Cicumstances And Yes They Ask About Savings Too.
