I'm off to Northern Cyprus soon, I am looking to invest £140k and need interest paid monthly, At max I can tie the sum up for one year.

You can probably rule out investing as one year would make investing a high risk option. If you accept that higher risk, then its fine but if not, you need to stick to deposit based accounts.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
