DFS - What are his rights?

Hi there
I really hope you can help. My db has just phoned to see if I can find out his rights, so I was hoping someone helpful on here might know:beer: . He recently brought a settee from DFS approx cost £1500. 3 weeks after receiving it the stitching on the cushions was coming undone. After contacting DFS 6 weeks later they supplied a replacement but with in a few days the same problem has occurred. They have offered him a replacement but for obvious reasons he's not keen on the idea of keep going through this:rolleyes: !! DFS have refused to give him a refund so he can go elsewhere. When he asked them what would happen if the same problem occurred with the next replacement DFS said they would replace it again and again...
Can he demand a refund as the goods surely are not fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality?
Many Thanks for your time

Sounds to me like he can 'reject the goods'. Give Consumer Direct a call. www.consumerdirect.gov.uk
As an aside, he'll be rejecting the sofa because it is not of reasonable quality. If he can sit on it then it is fit for purpose.0 -
In Jan 2007 we bought a Sofa and 2 chairs from DFS. All the arms were out of alignment and of different heights. We got the store manager out to inspect and his opening statement was "Would you like a full refund ?" - decided this time we would take the first offer!0
