Pop-ups Pop-ups everywhere!!! pls help

It started yesterday and I am being bombarded with pop-ups from a company called CiD - they either pop up in the middle of what I'm doing or lie in wait at the bottom of the screen. they are slowing up my mouse today as well. We have the free AVG software and have never had this problem before. Anyone have any ideas how to get rid please?

Another thing it does is give a pop up which says do you want to block popups with a box to say 'yes'. Obviously I haven't clicked on the yes button as this also comes from CiD

Download and install Spybot Search & Destroy here and it will protect your system from this and many more nasties.

You have probably downloaded messenger plus and agreed to install the sponsor software CID, try uninstalling messenger plus, if that cures it install messenger plus and READ what it says about installing sponsor program. You should be able to install without it.

If it is not messenger then you may have installed another freebie which had CID and is required to let you use the freebie program - check what you have downloaded recently.

Thanks so much for replies. My daughter did download MSN plus but as she is much more au fait with this sort of thing I didn't think to supervise here. However, that was probably about 2 or 3 weeks ago and the problem has only just surfaced now. I'll check with other members of the family tonight and see if anyone has downloaded anything else. Thanks again everybody.

Sorry me again. We've used Spybot dearch and destroy, my OH has uninstalled MSN plus but this was on my daughter's webpage. I am the only one out of us 4 who has the problem and I never download anything - free or otherwise - mainly because I don't know how to. I've looked at other websites about going ito control panel and uninstalling MSN plus but I don't have it on my list. Any hel please? thanks

if MSN Plus has been uninstalled from one user account, it won't appear on yours.
