If the B&B was going to 'crash' why on earth would a US company purchase a 20% stake for £150m, surely they must see the B&B as a long term investment ?

Lots of naysayers on this thread, but non have answered my question, if the B&B is to go the same way as NR as many on here imply, then why would a US investment company put £150m into it ?

The job of such companies is surely to follow the basic principle of buy cheap sell high, or are they willing to take a throwaway punt with £150m ?

They're taking a punt. They're speculators hoping to make a fast buck. They might be wrong, they might be right, only time will tell. There's absolutely no guarantee it'll be a success.

Current times are about self fullfilling prophecies, not about facts and figures

I put all my monies into HSBC a long time ago, and stopped thinking about it too much...

Remember TPG did something like 101 billion of investments previous year (I think?) so it is probably something to do with "high politics" going on here.

I'd be more impressed if the 150m was from a UK company who would actually miss the amount !!!

£150m is nothing to them, it's worth a punt in the hope of making some profit.

Plus I'm sure the government added some sweeteners to the deal, as the US did with Bear Sterns/JP Morgan.

Yes, something smells strongly of kippers...

Paid out £37mill for "underwriting services" (which guaranteed the 80-odd pee), quickly followed by an "oh well it's only worth half that", most bets are off maybe..?

It's to con the public that the B&B is still in good shape and worth investing in.
The banks are trying to bail each other out (with a massive helping hand from Fed and BOE) to stop the public realising most of them are INSOLVENT.

I have been watching and listening to what is going on in America for the last few months.
The big banks are in trouble and are lying through their teeth and trying to load their problems onto the taxpayer. There is a massive fraud occuring.

THE US ECONOMY IS TOAST AND THE UK IS RIGHT BEHIND IT.

    it's dead in the water.

    Down 6 % in 12 months ? ...don't make me laugh.

Try 15-20% already if you want a sale...this is based on where I live where they sold very quickly 6 months ago.

    £400k+ now £350k
£220k+ ...one offered at £180k for quick sale.

    B&B got problems now !

    Wait 12 months.
