Oh my....i've already signed up for this but after reading more from last month i'm disgusted at how little i do to help myself  I don't do homemade stuff i'm such a terrible cook and not very confident at it but i will give it a try on the snacky foods to start with, i'm sure that will make a difference even
if its just to keep the kids happy with nibbles
And as for the watering down milk & freezing it?????? I haven't found the post with any details on this and i would never have thought of doing either of those things.....If anyone could fill me in on those details i would greatly appreciate it as my 9 year old drinks milk like its going out of fashion
Thanx for your continued support and good luck to everyone on the GC WaggonMay GC £350/ spent so far

WP Smyth I've been musing over a similar idea for a couple of weeks now. In fact DD and I had a talk tonight, as up until recently I have always just handed money over whenever she has asked * tiptoes hangs head in shame*.
She still refuses to take packed lunch, so I have told her that she needs to understand the value of money and I will no longer be giving her money as and when she asks but will give her an allowance of £15.
I followed your example and have told her that she can either chose to use this for school dinners or take packed lunch and the money from her allowance can be used as she wishers but once it has gone I will not be giving her any more money until her pay day.GC: £400/ £00 -
It's a miracle - I showed dh this thread and he's totally on board. He wants to give costco a miss as it's mostly processed food and instead go to our local farm shop to get much better quality meat. He loves cooking and now he's home (was working away for 18 months) wants to start doing meal plans and cutting down the grocery bills. We've got an allotment so very soon we'll be getting free fruit and veg too. Here's to a very good month xx0

hi AnitaJ
I simply throw the plastic bottles of milk in the freezer as i buy them (whoopsed full fat) I know some folks take a bit out to allow for the expansion but i have never had one burst yet. Then i just take it out and leave it to defrost..make sure it is fully melted befor you start using it otherwise i found that the last bit was really weak
When it comes to watering it down i think again that a lot of folks start off doing 3/4 milk and 1/4 water then increase the water slowly as the fanily get used to it.... I always watered mine down at night and left it for use in the morning as it seemed to taste better
As for the cooking thing..don't put yourself down.. you just need to find a few recipes to get to grips with to build your confidence and then there will be no stopping you :T
This is the right place to find loads of tried n tested recipes..you will soon be cooking up a storm
Tiptoes.. that sounds like my niece..she was being given £3 a day for lunch  and one day her mum got a call from school to say she had been having a few dizzy spells.. seems she was pocketing the money and not eating  .. she would have been taking a packed lunch if she were in this house and was stashing the cash and starving-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Hi Guys,
decided to take up some of your tips regarding whoopsies and attended mr t at 750pm today and picked up loads of stuff totalling about £14.48 for 8 pieces of smoke cod, 2 pieces of herring, pack of sausages, pack of prawns, 2 packs of satsumas, cellary, 2 loaves, 2 lamb steaks, 12 kids cheese packs, 5 chicken breasts and 2 packs of bbq ribs. You lot are amazing I cant believe it! It would have cost about three times as much. My DH who previously thought me soo mad actually smiled as I packed the freezer! :rotfl: . Will update siggy in a minute.
Welcome all the newbies!!!!! I am a newbie from last month and am seriously addicted planted seeds and everything  it really helps focus on the money which helps the budget. Which can only be a good thing. Has any one the answer to my question about the fresh yeast? I am not sure if it was anna louise in the last thread said you could freeze fresh yeast, do you need to do anything different to it after defrosting it??JanGC £250/£82 far:weight loss 1lb cc250/£86/cm40/£9.50 :A0 -
dink
I answered it somewhere :rotfl:
You freeze it in the size pieces you use .about 14g for me
then when you Measure out your liquid in morning just make it a touch warmer than normal and drop a lump of yeast as normal..it will defrost in secondsbut won't make the liquid to cool

I have no idea what my partner and I's monthly spend is on groceries and the like so it'll be an eye opener!PROUD TO HAVE DEALT WITH MY DEBTS0
