Neeps, and that picture are SWEDES.
Turnips are whitish and tinged with purple sometimes.
Not many people know that Richard Curtis meant to use parsnips because of their more obviously comical phallic shape, but he too got muddled by his vegetables.....

OO I'm off to demand papa tell me exactly what he's growing for me in my garden because he keeps mentioning kohlrabi, swedes and turnips... (I still don't have the heart to tell him that I really wanted broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, parsnips and onions:o)
