Brighthouse Credit??!! Good or bad - please advise

Hi
I need to get a new washer, two problems = No money, no credit card.
I have been given details of a company giving credit with no credit checks at all, the company is trading as Brighthouse credit and they offer a rate of 29% APR fixed, just as good as a Capotal One Classic card.
However, looked around alittle on the internet and this company sounds like if you dont pay on time EVERY time they will send someone to pay you not such a nice visit.
Has anyone had dealings with this company? are they safe to use?!
I will pay them on time but if Im a day or so late I dont want them to get funny if you get where Im coming from here.
I hear they were also kicked out of france due to the service they offer.
Any advice would be good

Just looked into this company in more detail and
These people are sharks!!!!
And legal sharks too at that.
They let you have goods on a rent-to-buy basis and dont do credit checks however heres an example:
Home Cooker at Brighthouse £850
Insurance cover with BH (Must be taken to obtain the agreement)
Weekly repayment of £23 a week for two years (minimum term, cant clear it quicker)
Total £2208
Argos price of cooker £370
Dont touch this company, I have heard some scarey things from people online after looking round, I wont be going near them now!
If you miss just one payment, yes just ONE, they send the heavies in and will take the goods away, they have the power as its a HP agreemnet so you dont own the goods on the first payment like a credit agreement,
Brighthouse are cons!!!

Sorry but as the old saying goes, if you can't afford it don't buy it. Not too helpful I know. Try looking for a second hand machine, post a wanted article on freecycle, try local gumtree online, local paper, local tip, friends, family?
Or you could try Old Style MSE and hand wash........no you're right you need a machine0 -
Just used the search to find this to rant xD I went to brighthouse today to try and find a nice tv and i was shocked at the prices for all of them most of them are nearly £500 over the RRP and some are even £800 would never buy with them they prey on vunerable people and are still legal wow.0

One word - bad.
If you can only 'afford' it from here then I suggest you look at your local free ads, freecycle or Ebay local bargain hunter etc.0 -
Apparently most of their customers are reffered to them from the Jeremy Kyle show !0

For any families struggling with finance, the washing machine breaking down or the fridge packing in can be a real pain - and companies like Brighthouse really exploit this.
Some larger charity shops deal in second hand electrical stuff and can offer a delivery service, too (a YMCA shop to this effect has opened near me doing this).
Another alternative may be to find out about your local credit union. The Co-op are making their online electrical store accessible via credit union loans - so that's competitive high street prices for a start, a competitive interest rate on the credit union loan, and in most cases a paypoint payment card for weekly payments rather than the heavies knocking at the door.0 -
To second what Stuart says, the Co-operative electrical and Credit Union partnership is your friend here. It aims to stop families being targeted or drawn through utter desperation to unscrupulous companies like Brighthouse.
I do urge you not to consider using Brighthouse. Explore your local Credit Union on www.abcul.org. The limitations with this is it make take you some time to activate your membership and this doesn't help right now when you have tons of washing to do! Fore more on the Co-operative partnership click here.
Can you explore the possibility of a buy now pay later with Comet or Argos? I'm always loathe to recommend this sort of credit due to the 30% interest rates, but if you are disciplined enough to pay it back within the alloted timeframe, you wont incur any interest.
Let us know how you get on. As a mum of two, I feel your pain!Earn £10 a day JAN: £92.23 / £310 :j ...............NSD Jan 2/10
14 months to debt free with snowballing (start date Jan 2012) £0/12600........JAN weight loss target 5/60 pounds
I'll make it to the moon if I have to crawl0 -
i will sum them up - they prey on vunerable people mostly on benifits and are rip of merchants0

Not read the other posts, but as desperate as you may get, or think 'it's expensive but we should be able to afford it' PLEASE DON'T
Worst experience we've ever hadThis thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.0
