Hi Guys
In My House I Am Planning To Fit The Extractor Hood In Kitchen, but I Cant Put The Ducting Outside Horizontally As The Slanted Roof Comes In A Way. I Got Only One Way To Put The Ducting Through Roof. Can Anyone Suggest Me Is It Good Idea To Duct Through Roof? Will It Affect My Current Roof And Will It Start The Roofing Problems? Also Can Anyone Suggest Me Where Will I Get The Special Tile Which Got Angled Hole To Pass The Duct Pipe Through The Tile?
I Enquired In B&q And They Said They Dont Do That Sort Of Tiles/alternative Solution.
Thanks In Advance

You need something called a 'lead slate'
see here : http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=101624&ts=41396&id=19121
If you goto your local college, the trainee plumbers will make a proper lead one for you.......if you ask the tutors nicely.

Can you not fit activated charcoal filters to your extractor? This does aaway with the need for external venting. Th enew one i purchased had th eoption to duct externally or use filters. The filters do need replaced every 6-8 months but it also depends on usage and if you want a leaky roof.0

I have 5 extractor fans ( including cooker hood) ducted through my ceiling!! No problems it was done when cottage was renovated and passed by building inspectors.
I actually have 5 little chimneys sticking out from m y roof at the back but no problems at all.
In case anyone is wondering why 5 there is cooker hood, extractor in bathroom and toilet and utility room and I think the other is something to do with hot water tank.
Why any couldn't be put together is beyond me but maybe rules and regulationstravelover0 -
Have a look at these

They work great, they replace a roof tile and you just couple the duct up to them. The link is for a grey one, they also do brown. Not the cheapest solution, but very neat...0 -

No, you're OK.
You only need PP and/or buildings inspector approval if you are making structural changes to the roof or substantially altering its appearance, e.g. fitting a dormer window or building a new brick chimney.0
